I graduated from Carlow University with a BS in Mathematics. After a long career with the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Control Specialist, I returned to school and graduated from Barry University with my Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine. I then completed post graduate training at the VA Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
I have been treating patients in skilled nursing and personal care facilities since 2017, and I continue to work in those facilities.
My mission is to provide you with personalized, high quality care in the comfort of your own home or in our office.

There is no set time frame when thick or painful nails need to be treated. Debridement is when thick toenails are thinned with a dremel tool, making them more comfortable to walk and wear shoes. When the nails become long, thick or uncomfortable just call or text for an appointment.
Most Medical insurance plans do not cover routine nail and foot care unless there is a medical necessity. If we aren’t dealing with the constraints of health insurance plans, Dr. Bauer has no minimum time frame. When your nails become painful or uncomfortable, call or text to schedule an appointment. Health insurance coverage is more than 62 days after the last treatment.
Dr. Bauer uses a variety of styles and sizes of nail clippers. She also uses a dremel to help with excessive thick nails safely and with reduced pain.
Dr. Bauer will gather important health questions that may be related to the lower extremity and treatment. Diabetes and peripheral vascular disease are common diseases that should have regular podiatric treatment.
Dr. Bauer will have you sit in your favorite comfortable chair and relax. It is your choice if you would like to have any family members present. She will bring a small case with tools, carefully treat your feet, clean up, and discus any recommendations. The session is quick and as painless as possible.
DPM stands for Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. Podiatrists graduate after 4 years of Podiatric Medical School, followed by a post graduate surgical residence.
Dr. Bauer will travel approximately 45 minutes of driving distance from the Greensburg area. If you live further, please don‘t hesitate to contact her. She often travels to remote areas to treat patients in skilled nursing facilities around western Pennsylvania and may still be able to treat you.
The cost for your in-home visit is a combination of travel time plus costs for all treatments.
The cost for an in-office visit has a consultation fee and any associated treatment fees.
See the pricing list and please feel free to ask any questions to clarify.
If requested, Dr. Bauer will provide you with a comprehensive receipt that you may submit to your insurance company. Depending on your coverage, insurance may give reimbursement less your co-pay and any deductible on medically necessary covered treatments and/or consultation fees. Many of Dr. Bauer’s treatments are new and innovative, and not covered by insurance.
This is a common question and not easy to answer. Thick toenails are not always caused from fungus and yeast, but can also be from permanently damaging the area where the nail grows. Diseases such as psoriasis can make nails look fungal.
Contact Dr. Bauer for an assessment on your toenails. Together with the history of how the nails have deteriorated and her experience, often a clinical diagnosis can be made. However if there is any question as to whether the nails have fungus growing, Dr. Bauer will send a sample of the toenail to the pathology lab for official diagnosis. This is painless, takes several days, and is often covered by most medical insurance plans.
This is the fee for a new patient initial visit and exam. Additional treatment fees will be added If necessitated.
Will be charged at all follow up exams and Includes nail trimming and debridement if necessary.
Your consultation includes extensive education about treating this difficult condition.

Shoe spray used in conjunction with the fungal nail treatment program. Saturate your shoes thoroughly after removing insoles, allow to dry, then reapply as necessary when shoes begin to smell, usually after 3-4 months for every day shoes and 3-4 weeks for your athletic shoes or those with intensive perspiration. This spray helps kill the fungal spores that infect toenails and not just cover up the odor and contains silver.
